Im thinking about getting a conure but...?

I've been looking into getting a conure, but I don't know what to expect, I would be a first time bird owner, I also have four cats, I have two male maine coons (about 5 or 6 years old) a female siamese (7 or 8 years) and a female russian blue (1 year). My cats have never seen a bird close up,so I don't know what to expect from them or the bird. I have never been around birds before, but I've had cats all my life, I have always wanted a bird, so can cats and birds live in a house together (somewhat peacefully)?
