I've paid off all my rent arrears but having trouble with new property?

I paid off all my arrears back in the middle of April. My partner and myself are looking to move in July we have found a house everything is paid etc, but new landlord is kicking off cause of arrears. What I wanna know is how long does it take to clear the arrears???
